Postcards from Comporta
Some trips are curated with the intention to slow down, but Comporta makes this the most natural option. For creator Lisa Grenn, a summer escape to the Portuguese coast was about doing very little, very well. Days were spent beaching, long lunches, swimming, reading and staying out past sunset.
Travelling with friends and her dog, Wolfgang, Lisa found the beauty in having nowhere to be and no real plans, just the simple rhythm of a Comporta summer.
What drew you to this destination?
I’d been wanting to spend some proper summer time in Comporta for a while. I love that it feels quite simple and understated.
Describe your favourite view throughout the trip.
Definitely the sunsets on the beach. We would stay until quite late and the light was so beautiful. Everything suddenly turns golden and pink.
What’s one moment from this trip you’ll never forget?
Seeing how happy my dog was to be back at the beach!! He absolutely loves the sand and running around and honestly, watching him enjoy himself that much made me so happy.
Your perfect day here looks…
Very slow. Coffee in the morning, then heading to the beach with a book, swimming, a long lunch somewhere, probably back to the beach in the afternoon and then getting dressed up a little for dinner with friends.
Which ELCE pieces travelled with you and where did you wear them?
I brought the Kai shirt and shorts, the Marisol maxi dress and the Maris shirt. The Kai set was perfect over my bikini for the beach and going out for lunch and I wore the Marisol dress in the evening. The Maris shirt was one of those pieces I could just throw on with everything.
One hidden gem you’d recommend to a friend visiting here.
Caju. It’s a really cute boutique, but there’s also this little garden hidden at the back with sofas where you can sit and have a drink - and sometimes, they even have DJs.
The soundtrack to your trip...
Probably less one specific song and more the sounds of the trip, especially the ocean
A scent, colour or texture that instantly reminds you of this place.
The smell of the sea mixed with warm pine trees. And that very specific Comporta colour palette - sandy beige, faded greens and the pinky-orange light just before sunset.
If this place were a postcard, what would you write on the back?Wish you were here. We’ve done very little apart from swim, eat, read and watch the sun go down. Exactly how summer should be.
