Where do you find your inspiration?
In restful times. I find it hard to absorb anything inspiring when I am overstimulated or 'on the go'. I can find inspiration almost anywhere (art, nature etc) but I have to be at peace to really see it I think. I used to get inspiration from old movies and old magazines but lately I am more drawn towards sculptures and nature.
What’s your favourite place to unwind and why?
I absolutely love my home, my house is definitely my sanctuary. But my most favourite places in the world are all in Greece, we have a few favourite little secret spots that I feel like a big part of my heart is left at.
A ritual or habit that grounds you.
Morning coffee with my kids. It is my favourite time of day. My son wakes up super early so we make coffee and a baby-chino and sit outside on our kitchen steps and wait for his little sister to wake. It is a moment that I miss the most when travelling.
One item you always pack on a trip.
My little film camera from 1989. It doesn't work very well and sometimes it refuses to work but because of my line of work I don't use my phone or camera when it is strictly family time so all of our family memories are shot on this little piece of frustrating plastic. I will never part with it!
What’s a book that has transported you somewhere else?
I recently read Song of the Sun God by Shankari Chandran and I was equally heartbroken and captivated at the same time. I had the same feeling with The Covenant of Water and The Daughters of Madurai. I absolutely love Indian and Sri Lankan authors.
What playlist are you listening to right now?
Our family's euro summer playlist. It is a mix of all kinds of music and brings me memories of sunshine and the melancholic feeling of truly living in what will be 'the good old days' very soon.
Where have you been recently and what's something you learned during that experience?
We went to western and southern Crete this year and I fell in love. We usually go to Corfu which is our favourite Greek island but this year we tried an area often overlooked by tourists and found the most amazing community of villages.
Which destination is next on your bucket or travel list?
I have so many places I still want to go to and also that I want to revisit. I have never been and would love to explore South America, especially Brazil.
